Here's a screen capture of my Debian desktop with KDE running. I have quite a lot of photos taken in Switzerland, Belgium and Germany by my mother on a business trip, which I use as wallpapers. Some breaktaking scenery! Here's just a sample. Notice the detail of the ripples in the water: just wonderful.

  1. Nice desktop. But, my goodness, you have a lot of icons on that desktop :)

  2. Ray, thanks for the compliment. Yes, I have a lot of icons... do you think it's too Windowsy? ;)

  3. No, not at all. I have lots of icons on my work computer - but I hardly ever use any of them. The organisation on my Linux computer is much better: just 4 icons and 3 of those came by default.

  4. I prefer to usually add links to my desktop to frequently used applications. I prefer it to going through the KDE menu (sometimes more than one level deep) to find an app which I frequently use. Also some apps don't have KDE menu shortcuts by default so I prefer this method of adding an icon in the desktop.
