b2evolution developers comment on my review

I was just checking out the latest comments out here this morning (expecting 0 new comments) and I had a pleasant surprise.

Two members of the b2evolution team, project maintainer Francois Planque and code moderator Scott Kilmer have commented on my b2evolution review and my subsequent follow up. While the fact that my humble review should have caught their attention is an honour in itself, what I truly appreciate is their insightful thoughts and their acknowledgement of my points both for and against b2evolution. I've posted a lot of software reviews in the past, but this is the first time I can remember that I've had somebody from the development team acknowledge them. It's recognition like this that really encourages me to do more software reviews in the future.

I'm glad to been of help and I'm thankful I worked a lot on that review and didn't embarrass myself. ;)

  1. Yeah, in one of my posts when I was reviewing Bacula and was claiming I was going to replace Amanda here in the office with Bacula, I had one of the Amanda maintainers post. I sent him an email but never got any type of reply.

  2. Drew, it's nice when developers do acknowledge user feedback like this. Whether they act on it or not is a different issue, but this is what keeps goodwill in the FOSS community.Yeah, and the b2evolution developer has actually responded to my e-mail now. I am hoping to receive a snapshot of the latest development release.

  3. What is it you need in the way of static pages that B2 doesn't do..? I don't use them myself, but static page functionality IS there.Nice to see that they noticed your review tho. I'll have to get mine done when I get a chance :)

  4. Thanks Dominic. I plan on doing a review of b2evolution 2.0 development snapshot. If the WP importer is done by then, I plan on migrating Hari's Corner to b2evolution, provided all goes well in the test run.
