Linux links removed

Well, I figured that I needn't clutter the sidebar with links to popular Linux sites including official distribution sites which most of you know about. You've probably even bookmarked those in your own browser as well. So there you go - no more Linux links from this blog.

If there is a need for including Linux links in the future, I will probably create a separate "Links" page. All other links will continue living happily in the sidebar. :P

  1. There is much to be said for a seperate links page. I don't think there is any good way to list your links - if you have them down one side you have to do a lot of scrolling, if on a seperate page you have to hope they get found.I, personally, prefer the seperate page approach - I can organise them better and don't have to worry if the list is too long. It also doesn't detract from the main content.

  2. Right you are, Ray. I'll not remove the blogroll links or the other links from the sidebar. But I thought that the Linux links were unnecessary and I removed them. ;)

  3. one thing I have been meaning to implement with my separate links page is a little description to go with each link, so people don't feel like they are clicking blind.

  4. Yes, that's my idea too. A links page can be very flexible.

  5. I was going to include descriptions, but some were 2 or 3 words long and others ran into a couple of sentences, so I stopped doing it.

  6. I try to keep links to a minimal nowadays. I've bascially included some links to my other sites and the blogs I frequently visit. Just about anything else, most already know about or is easily found by doing a quick search.

  7. Yes, Drew, that was my idea too. Too many popular websites to link to - they don't need any more links from blogs like mine :P
