Because my laptop has decided to take a hike again. I was sorely tempted to give up the struggle on the previous occasion but decided that buying a new laptop was not a decision to be lightly taken.
I truly believed that the issue was resolved last time, but within a month of getting it fixed, it has developed the exact same problem. While I appreciate the extended warranty, my gratitude is starting to wear thin as I keep getting the motherboard issue over and over again. It leads me to believe that the service replacement parts are sub-par in order to cut costs.
Actually I'm trying hard not to swear right now as I type this. For shame, HP. I'll never buy your crappy laptops again.

Let me see. It's a tough decision as it would mean a big expenditure. Lenovo is another brand I'm considering but not too sure if they make laptops that would meet my needs (their focus seems to be on business models).

Dell has excellent service here in the US. I would imagine similar features in India as well. Don't give up on it yet... those are very stable (and a little heavy) machines.

I'm a Linux person, but probably more for the ease of use rather than as a rabid GPL/GNU true believer. OS X is unix-y enough for me, I can pretend it is linux a lot of the time.
Still itching to get linux on a server box somewhere though.

Titanium, my brother has a Macbook pro, and I think it is a great piece of hardware. But it has a tendency to overheat and I think in a climate like India's it might malfunction. At least some people seem to think so.
Also I'd prefer to keep Linux because I use a lot of Open Source apps and not all of them are ported to the MacOS.
