Certificate of political correctnessPapa Hari News Service

In an effort to boost its sagging revenues, the Papa Hari World Government has come up with a new scheme to certify statements and speeches made by politicians and other people as "politically correct" thus rendering them immune from all criticism and accusations of racism, sexism, bigotry, fascism, regionalism, hate-mongering, extremism, fanaticism, zealotry and all other forms of -isms.

Certificates shall be made available to everybody at a price which would depend on the nature and content of the message they wish to certify as politically correct and protect from critics or political enemies. Each certificate shall be pre-signed by the Head of the World Government, Papa Hari himself. The more extreme and controversial the message, the higher will be the cost of the certificate. "At present we think we will generate an average revenue of about USD 500 per certificate, while the minimum cost will be USD 100," said a spokesperson.

A Papa Hari Government Official said that individual certificates shall be non-transferable and applicable only to one single message or speech which shall be mentioned on the certificate and shall not refer to future or past speeches. "For those full-time politicians and activists who require comprehensive protection of this nature, we have a different scheme which will be announced in a future date... right now, this certificate shall be available to everybody who wants certification of political correctness for a single message or speech. Those who violate any certified speech or message by making any of the aforementioned accusations shall be subject to severe legal penalties..."

Social activists, human rights groups and other politically-oriented organizations strongly protested against the above certification scheme as being against freedom of speech, but the Papa Hari Government Official brushed aside all objections stating that since the Papa Hari World Government was the sole arbiter of political correctness in the world, the scheme was perfectly within the framework of law.
